THE ECPL RULE

“Whenever a worker has a need to place any part of his/her body In a position on or near machines or equipment where unexpected movement, release of stored energy, energiz­ing of electrical systems, or the flow of gases, fluids or other materials could have potential to injure the worker, then the worker has the RESPONSIBILITY and the AUTHORITY to cor­rectly apply ECPL procedures and shall be held ACCOUNTABLE for that correct application."

GOAL

THE UNITED AUTO WORKERS FORD DEPART­MENT and FORD are committed to providing an effective training program on the subject of lockout procedures for all employees having a need to lock out that will:
  • Ensure that everything humanly possible has been done by both the UNITED AUTO WORKERS FORD DEPARTMENT AND FORD MOTOR COMPANY to provide all employees having a need to lock out with the knowledge and practices necessary to ensure their safety while working on equipment, and  

  • Ensure that all employees having a need to lock out are fully aware of the consequences of failing to follow   established lockout procedures.
